Veterinarians and their staff use ultrasound technology to help us see what’s going on inside the body, where we can’t see with our own eyes. Ultrasounds use sonic waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. We do this to help examine any abnormalities that may be present that could be the cause of your pet’s symptoms.
Rockford Road Animal Hospital partners with veterinary specialists for echocardiograms (ultrasounds of the heart) and abdominal ultrasounds. Our doctors are also capable of performing brief, localized scans with our own basic ultrasound unit for urgent situations. Whatever the situation may be, we are prepared to get your pet whatever help they may need.
Radiographs are used to capture pictures of internal organs, bones, and other biological structures. When something is going on with your pet that isn’t obvious on the outside, radiographs may be one of the next steps that your veterinarian suggests. Radiographs are used to look at a range of internal structures, such as bones, joints, and organs. Our veterinarians review each and every radiograph as a team to discuss what they are seeing. If further evaluation is needed, we utilize the digital services of a specialized veterinary radiologist to examine your pet’s radiographs and provide further in-depth analysis.
